About Us

Give her fish you feed them today. Teach her to fish, you feed them a lifetime

The story of Pendeza begins in 1980 from a small informal dwelling in the current Kisumu County to eradicate extreme poverty through cotton growing and value addition. Pendeza provides a wide variety of hand woven cotton and woolen apparel like scarves, shawls, throws, bed spreads and capes. Today, the organization has grown and expanded to rural Bondo to empower women and youth in advocating for accountability in leadership and governance.

Purchase of Pendeza Weaving Project products goes directly to building a resilient self reliant rural women and youth economies in Kisumu and Siaya Counties through trainings and support in cotton growing, value addition and digital marketing with the goal of moving from aid to trade.

Weaving Out Poverty

Our Mission is to improve and strengthen rural women and youth economy by involving them in cotton value chain to provide quality handwoven apparels for sale both local and international. For decades, Pendeza has been championing poverty reduction through social enterprise, mentoring the poor rural communities to move from Aid to Trade for sustainable development.
